Late Takeoff

June 29, 2014
Posting #BFTP late today, but better late than never!

June 29, 2012

I laid poolside and soaked up as much sun as possible.. Much like I did today actually.

My chemistry professor gave me a test in the morning, only to find out 3 hours after taking it that he had been arrested the day before for pandering (see solicit customers for a prostitute...)

I finished one of many pieces for my apartment!

Sorry for the late post, but I didn't prepare it in advance like I usually do which resulted in this... #mybad. Also, I've really been enjoying FACE time with people and living life off of these here interwebz, so I haven't forgotten y'all, just living life a little.

Mexico, Part Tres

June 26, 2014
In case you missed days one, two and three: here and here.

To wrap up my vacation series, which only took three weeks (sorry!), let's finish up with days four, five and six. I promise I'll make them less picture heavy!

We spent much of day four exploring Playa del Carmen, and even eating at a real Mexican restaurant off the hotel property, before heading back to our resort to go to our new friends' wedding.

Can always count on there being a Starbucks

After the wedding, we went to this amazing French restaurant for dinner and then joined the wedding party at the resort's club that night. It was around this time (really late) on Friday night that I began feeling a little sick.

Saturday was our last real day on vacation and I was feeling awful at this point. My throat and tonsils were swollen, it was getting hard to breathe out of my nose, the four mosquito bites I had gotten the day before were now the size of small saucers, including the one on my arm which was disfiguring my arm at this point, and all I really wanted to do was sleep. However, I couldn't ruin the last day for everyone else, so I sucked it up and we all went snorkeling, toured the giant hotel property for the 536864th time while drinking at all the bars along the way.

For dinner, we went to the Mexican restaurant (it's only right to celebrate your last day in Mexico eating Mexican) and at the end of dinner, I decided it was probably time to get some Benadryl. My friend and I left dinner early to see if the gift shop had any because we figured I had an allergic reaction to the mosquitos or maybe I ate something and didn't know I was allergic. And of course, no Benadryl. Though they did try to sell me seasonal allergy meds, which... just no. Plus I couldn't read the box, so I didn't want to waste money on something that I didn't feel would work.

We left the gift shop, went to our hotel's lobby bar and got drinks and as were were finishing up our margaritas, decided to use the EpiPen my friend had brought on the trip with her (she has a nut allergy).

I'm debating posting the video we took of me getting stabbed with this. Though my thigh was sore afterwards, it worked enough for me to fall asleep.

The next morning, we packed up all our stuff, went to breakfast and took pictures of our favorite places on the property before going to the lobby bar and getting our last drinks before heading back to the states.

And that my friends is the last of beautiful Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo, Mexico.

The plane ride and the following days were miserable for me since I was feeling so awful, but most everything cleared up a week after getting back. My ears never fully popped after getting off the plane and for 4 days, they popped every time I yawned. My stomach has been giving me slight issues since my return and the funniest thing - my family all said I can't travel out of the country again since I came back feeling ill.

For the most part though, I had a fabulous time so... we'll see about that.

It's a Blasty Blast

June 22, 2014
As I mentioned last week, I'm still toying with the idea of ending this linkup since not everyone can think of what they were doing "today in history" and not everyone has iPhoto or Timehop which tells you what you posted today in history, but anyway... let's get right into it.

Today in history was apparently a very uneventful one.

June 22, 2013
I spent this Saturday painting and drawing a ton of new stuff for my new apartment!

June 22, 2012
Being that it was a Friday night and I had endured yet another week of chemistry and microeconomics during the heat of the summer, I drank some moscato and hung out with good friends.

June 22, 2011
The summer before I went to college... Apparently I saw a rainbow over my house, ate an amazing sandwich (clearly a "pics or it didn't happen" situation), and swam while my dogs hovered around me

Five on Friday!

June 20, 2014
It's been a little while since I've done this link up; I've missed you guys!
Linking up with  ChristinaDarciNatasha and April!

ONE
I've begun moving out of this apartment (see here and here). While I'm a little sad, I cannot wait to move into my new apartment in August! The new place is 400 sq. feet smaller, but comes almost fully furnished. The beautiful place I've called home for the past year has been just that, beautiful, but the New York style wall of windows don't open, they aren't energy efficient, and it's just a lot of house for me. I'll miss it, but I can't wait to make memories in my new place.

TWO
Mexico was a blast!! I've posted a ton of pictures here and here, and still have a million more to post. You can see some on my Instagram (follow me y'all!). Aside from my bout with an allergic reaction/upper respiratory illness on the last two days, I would go back 1000x (maybe just make the trip one day shorter).

THREE
My sissy made a blog! Go visit, say hey! She's new to the blogging community, so I'm still helping her learn the ins and outs, but she's already done so much on her own and I'm sure she'd love to hear from y'all!

FOUR
This weekend I plan to do a little laying out in the sun and making either this tasty looking Moscato Strawberry Lemonade, the yummy Amaretto Sour, or this Pineapple Rum Lemonade!

FIVE
I just want to say thank you. I truly am so thankful for each and every one of you who reads, comments, and replies to comments. Seriously. Alycia and I were emailing the other day (hey girl, hey!) and I swear her emails truly made me smile. I'm so glad that the blogging community has such open arms and is so welcoming to everyone and I PROMISE I'm going to meet up with some of you one of these days.

Mexico, Part Deaux

June 19, 2014
Let's just jump right in, shall we?

In case you missed day one, here you go.
Days two and three of Mexico consisted of eating tons of good food, including dinner at the resort's Italian and Spanish restaurants, and drinking more alcohol than I care to admit.

Much of Day 2 was spent at our hotel's pool and beach, and walking around the huge property to the other hotels. We visited Dolphinaris and even hung out with our new friends that we met from day one. We went out with them to this club on the hotel property that night and we finally met the bride and groom to be!

The third day was alllll about TULUM! Tulum was a limestone city (back then there wasn't much soil in the area so not many plants) that served as a port for importing and exporting goods during the time of the Mayans (look who paid attention to the tour guide). It was absolutely beautiful and I have WAY too many pictures of the ruins themselves, myself at the ruins, the view from the ruins, and of my friend and I at the ruins. After Tulum, we went to this small beach for an hour before going to a watering hole to see some fish. Yes, a watering hole. I wanted to go swimming in the underground caves, and apparently that was what was advertised... but that's not even close to what we actually saw.

I digress.

hey iguana #379870 of the trip!

Once we made it back to the hotel, we went to the pool, drank (duh), and got ready for dinner. After dinner, we were invited to the pre-wedding bash thrown for our new friends. There we played King's Cup/Circle of Death/Ring of Fire, learned way too much about people we had just recently met, and were invited by the groom to the wedding. This statement was followed by the bride saying "Yes, please come! I walk down the aisle at 5 tomorrow."

Whattt?

Yes, you read that right. We were invited to the wedding of people we had met 2 DAYS BEFORE.

We continued the night at the lobby bar after we got asked to leave the pool, where the pre-wedding bash turned into a bachelor party.

A bachelor party that consisted of:
the groom
the MOH best friend and his best friend
my friend and I.

Essentially 5 strangers.

A ridiculous number of shots later, my friend and I decided to call it a night around 3am.

I wish I could say those are all of the shots, but these 25 aren't even the half of it.
