How a Trim Became a Cut

January 20, 2014
I went to get my hair trimmed last week and it turned into a cut.
I don't like getting my hair cut. I like my hair long.

See long-hair Allison below:

Yes, I am being a baby.
But I'm being a baby who surprisingly likes this haircut, so I'm willing to share it with all of you lovelies.

Yes… I was being "that girl" in the mirror

Opinions:
Do I look older or younger?

Love y'all.
Have a happy Martin Luther King Jr Day and if possible, do some service.
As Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "Life's most persistent and urgent question is: 'What are you doing for others?'"

Five on Friday

January 17, 2014
I think I've done Five on Friday once or twice, and both of those times, I had interesting things to say, beautiful pictures to accompany each point, you know, the whole nine. Well today's post isn't like that.

I'm linking up with Carolina and the rest of the Five on Friday ladies to bring you a normal, non-exciting week of my life (act like you're excited)!

{one}
I started my second semester of nursing school and boy have they thrown me to the wolves with that. No time for getting to know the courses, just get in and do it. On the plus side though, I learned how to insert IVs, so… yeah *brushes dirt off shoulders*

{two}
I chopped off a goooodd amount of hair. Not because I wanted to, I just desperately needed to get rid of split ends and that's how bad it was.

{three}
 I started watching Grey's Anatomy on Netflix right before Christmas. Want to know what season I'm on now?
Season 4, episode 7.
That's right, I've watched 77 episodes, each of which are 44 minutes and some change, in a little under 30 days. During break, I had marathons. When school started, I watched 2-3 episodes every night before bed after typing up paperwork for class.
3,388 minutes of Grey's Anatomy?!

Sorry, I'm actually a little shocked. I literally did the math as I was typing this.

I had an epiphany!
Well, I had it right after having a mental breakdown.
I usually tell y'all a lot, while also keeping it vague, but this is real and I think it's important for people to know.

I had a real mental breakdown this week in which I felt like I was useless, being used, unloved, disrespected, not good enough. I cried - a lot - and I prayed - a lot. I eventually called my best friend and he helped me talk things through. That night I had a vision. God brought me an amazing vision, which unfortunately, I cannot share the details of, but God told me to be patient. Just be patient.
For those of you who actually know me, I am a woman of little patience.
But God said, at least a year of patience. A year. Y'all, read that again, one year.

The next day, I called my mom and talked to her for over an hour about everything on my mind and I really started back getting into the Bible and T.D Jakes sermons this week.
I'm in a much better place mentally, spiritually and emotionally today than I was earlier this week, but I wanted to tell y'all that you're not alone if you ever feel unlike yourself, unhappy, unloved. I've been there, I know it's a sucky place to be. But you can get through this, and if there's anything I can do to help you, let me know. I will find services for you to use, therapists in your area, anything you need, don't hesitate to ask.

Weekend plans:
Right now, I'm about to go get hibachi.
Hibachi is delicious.
Later today, my girl friend that's getting married is coming to stay with me!
We have a million things to catch up on, especially the wedding.
 I have a friend's pageant - the Miss University of Georgia pageant (go Alex!) tomorrow.
Sunday and Monday will be chill maxin-and-relaxin days because Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday I am working in the hospital.

Sorry this isn't the Five on Friday where I show beautiful pictures and tell fantasy stories of how I traveled to seven different brunch locations and just loved them all and how my boyfriend threw me a birthday party on the Eiffel Tower. I really wish that could be my life every week.

But this is my life, as boring as it sounds, and I make no apologies.
(Maybe one day I can have a Five on Friday where I do all that. That'd be freakin' awesome)
